Get Involved




Volunteering is an American tradition. From the earliest colonial militias to volunteers staffing Red Cross shelters after hurricanes and tornadoes, Americans have always stepped forward to assist their communities in times of emergency or disaster.

Help your community prepare for and respond to disasters by volunteering to assist with planning, mitigating, or responding to natural disaster or emergencies.

Volunteer opportunities are available with the following agencies:

 Citizen Corps 
 

Help coordinate volunteer activities that will make our communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to any emergency situation.
   Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) 

Learn about disaster preparedness and how to help your community in the immediate aftermath of an event when safety forces may not be available.
   Medical Reserve Corps 


Strengthen public health, emergency response and community resiliency.
         
 American Red Cross 


Provide food, shelter, comfort and home for families affected by major disasters such as fire, hurricanes and tornadoes. The Red Cross is always looking for people with various backgrounds, talents and skill levels.
   Animals Disaster Team 


Provide temporary housing, food, basic first aid and general care for animals, during and immediately following a disaster or critical incident.
