Ready Certify Emergency Management Certification Program

The Ready Certify program is designed to assist local communities and organizations in developing and operating their own emergency management programs. While the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management is the primary emergency management agency (EMA) within the county, each city, village, township, and organization plays a critical role in planning for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from emergencies or disasters.

Ready Certify is:

A voluntary program for cities, villages, townships, and organizations that provides objective evaluation of the participating entity’s emergency management program.

The core of the program is a set of performance standards that participating communities and organizations strive to comply with. The standards are based off of nationally recognized best practices and cover the various aspects of an effective local emergency management program, including organization, planning, equipping, training, and public information. Once leadership is confident that their community or organization meets the standards they submit their documentation to the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management (CCOEM) where the materials are reviewed. When compliance with the standards is verified, CCOEM will certify the applicant’s emergency management program.
